England centre Martin Gleeson is leaving Australia empty handed but could shortly be back on our shores sporting the colours of South Sydney.

Reports suggest Gleeson, who has been granted an early release from Super League club Warrington, will play out the upcoming season in the UK before making a move to the NRL.

"Two clubs are going to put offers to us after the weekend, which is good progress," Gleeson's agent, Andy Clarke, told News Ltd.

"Two others want to wait a few months, which doesn't really suit us but we haven't ruled them out."

While Melbourne and Canberra are biding their time, it appears South Sydney and the Gold Coast Titans are the two clubs keen to get the signature of the 28-year-old international centre.

"We've had talks with Andy about Martin; he's a good player but it's 2010 we're talking about," Souths chief executive Shane Richardson told News Ltd, confirming the club's interest.

"Centre is a position we are all looking to strengthen but we haven't made an offer."
