Blocker's Tough Tales: Sinkin' beers with a Manly hero

rugbyleaguelive.com | 05/10/08 | 0

When you're tracking down the toughest men in league, you'd be hard pressed looking past a bloke who carries the nickname 'Crusher'.

Born Noel Harvey Cleal, 'Crusher' carved out a reputation as bruising ball-runner and all-round tough nut.

His fearless style of play made him an instant crowd favourite at Brookvale when he arrived from the Roosters in 1983.

He tasted premiership success with the Sea Eagles in 1987, and struck fear into countless Queenslanders with 12 State of Origin performances in the NSW back-row.

Crusher played eight Tests for Australia and still works closely with Manly as the club's talent scout.

Courtesy of Holden Colorado, Crusher and Blocker sunk back a few cold ones and chewed the fat ahead of Sunday's grand final with Cleal's beloved Sea Eagles.
