Saffy re-signs with Dragons

AAP | 09/05/08 | 0

St George Illawarra forward Jarrod Saffy has extended his stay at the NRL club for a further two years.

South African born Saffy, 22, will remain with the Dragons until the end of 2010.

The forward, who escaped a biting charge at the NRL judiciary last month, moved to Australia as a 15-year-old rugby union prospect.

He spent time with the NSW Waratahs, the Australian sevens side and the Wests Tigers before joining the Dragons on a one-year deal this year.

"Jarrod has settled in and performed well at the Dragons in a short time and, although injury has hindered his progress, we see him as an important part of our future," Dragons chief executive Peter Doust said.

Saffy is currently sidelined with a rib cartilage injury and is expected to return in round 12.
