Myles cops six weeks after early guilty plea

Sydney Roosters' Nate Myles has been suspended for six weeks after taking an early guilty plea for a dangerous throw on Ben Cross in Wednesday's Origin decider.

The tackle, which came early in the second half, has been described by leading orthopaedic surgeon Merv Cross as "one of the worst I've ever seen".

However referee Tony Archer, despite placing Myles on report, decided not to send the Queensland forward from the field, sparking outrade in the Blues camp.

Front-rower Cross said yesterday he was sick of being on the receiving end of dangerous throws, but refused to comment on the sentence.

"I hope no one else does it to me otherwise I will go off my head.

"I think the footage says it all.

"I don't want to incriminate him any more."

4/07/2008 7:17:22 AM What a load of crap!!! Much worse has been done and been let off! What about what roach did to lindner all those years ago and nothing was done. Nsw are just sooky la la's. Posted by: shane paul, perth, Australia Reply

4/07/2008 11:45:03 AM Never mind the part Ben Cross took in the tackle to make it look a lot worst. There's no way Myles is strong enough to up end a man of Cross' size from the position he was in, no one would be, without Cross trying to surrender in the tackle and thrown the top half of his body towards the ground. Ben Cross needs to start thinking why so many of these tackles happen to him. Maybe it's got something to do with what he's doing as well. Posted by: Adam Edwards, Townsville, Australia Reply

5/07/2008 12:13:05 AM Adam, Too say that Myles is not strong enough to upend Cross is a little naive'. Matey, Hayne upended Tony Carroll a couple of weeks back, and Carroll is bigger than Hayne! As soon as a tackler puts their hands between an attackers legs there is the potential for these tackles to occur. Cross landed right on the point of his head thats a fact! And despite whether you support qld or not that cannot be doubted. If he broke his neck would there be a question about severity? I think not! Posted by: Eel Nut, Sydney, Australia Reply
